Black Sand, St. Vincent


On my recent trip to St. Vincent (August 2010), we drove to the Leeward side of the island and I took this picture focusing on the black sand.  My husband informed me that because of the volcano, most of the beaches on the island has black sand like this.

    Unfortunately I did not take a swim on this trip. Can you believe that?? But to be honest after living in the BVI for so many years with the beautiful torquise colored water, I find it hard to swim in any beach where I cannot see my feet!
