Vicki

This is Vicki our favorite road side food vendor.  She is a fabulous cook.  Normally on Saturdays we would hang out here for lunch and a few beverages.  Her food van is situated at the car park of the Terrence B. Lettsome International Airport on Beef Island, British Virgin Islands.

Neighbour's Dog

This is another old picture that I just found and decided to include it in my blog.  I really like it!  Look at the dog's eyes!!!  Most times he would take a nap under my vehicle because I guess it was cooler.  Seems like I was disturbing him from his nap as I was taking the picture.

He looks dirty but that is the color and pattern of his fur.

Stones

I took this picture above a few yeas ago and I finally have the opportunity to show it off.  I think the stones look so pretty.  In the first picture, the stones are under water.

Happy Doggie

Early one morning, as I was taking some pictures of the beach at Brandywine Bay, BVI, two dogs approached me in a semi aggressive manner.  But it turns they were just checking out who was in the area.  This one in particular, stayed close to me while I took his pictures.  Seems like he wanted to make friends with me.

Bees

This morning my husband and I saw these bees around this lighting on the outside wall of our apartment.  I immediately grabbed my camera and took these few shots.  Then we sprayed the bees with some insecticide and quickly ran inside.  My skin crawls by just looking at these pictures.

Turtles

These are my son's collection of miniture turtles.  I was playing around and taking pictures.  I like the fact that I was able to capture the names of the countries with great detail.

Feeling Good!

I had a great morning. I was using my friend's computer and I realized that my favicons are working on all my blogs!!!!  Yea!!!!  The reason for my excitement this morning, is on my computer, the favicon will work on one of my blogs and not the others.  I eventually got a bit frustrated and decided to move on to something else.  I have already spent quite a bit of time on this feature, now I see the results today!!!!  I think my browser needs upgrading.

To take my joy to a higher level, I opened my blog on Calypso Legends, and was playing the videos, so I was being entertained while I was working.  You should have seen me humming to myself and 'dancing'!  My next project is to add a favicon to my cooking website.  This is my happy face ..............

Potential?

I took this picture from inside an old house at Salt Island, looking up at the roof. It is a bit dark but maybe this picture may have some potential. What do you think?

Photobucket
I did some grey out touch up on the walls and roof.  Not much difference really. I can't seem to make up my mind which one I really like.  I will have to try some more effects later.

First Intention - Black And White Photograpy

My first intention with this picture was to grey out the walls and my son and leave the outside view in full color.  But when I saw it in black and white, I said to myself  "Yes!"

This is my first set of pictures of doorways and I did not really know how to make the most of these shots, so my son decided to sit in front of this doorway to give the picture some dimension.

Construction Workers

My husband took me on the job site with  him a few days ago and I took these pictures.  They were taken based on the tip that lying down or taking  pictures from a low position, gives the pictures a whole new prospective.

The first photo is of my husband, he is an electrician and is in deep concentration.  He was sealing the electrical outlet in the wall.

Queen Elizabeth Bridge, British Virgin Islands

This is the bridge that connects Tortola and Beef Island in the British Virgin Islands. The name of this bridge is Queen Elizabeth Bridge.  The Terrance B. Lettsome International airport, previously known as Beef Island Airport, is located on Beef Island.

I had fun passing under the bridge for the first time!

As promised

In one of my previous post, I promised that I would post step by step instructions on how to do this grey out technique. First you have to join Photobucket. After that has been done, you can start to upload your pictures.

After you have uploaded your pictures, edit the one that you want to work on. You will be taken to another screen with a number of image touch up options.

Click on the Effects tab and then on the Greyscale icon. As soon as you click on this icon, the entire image would be changed to a black and white image. Click on the Advance options button and a little box will be displayed with the options to grey out the entire image, focal area (this is also a cool technique but I have not really experimented with it as yet) or painted region. Choose Painted Region.

There will be a feature for a brush size, choose the size that you feel comfortable and begin to maneavour your mouse to control your 'paint brush' to color the areas that you want to grey out.

I choose a larger brush size to grey out the larger areas that need greying out. I use a smaller size brush to grey the areas that are closest to the area that I want to stay in full color.

There is also an option where you can zoom in on the image so you can see the areas closer up that need to grey out.

After you have completed the entire picture (the areas that you want grey out that is), you can either save a copy or replace the original picture with one you have just greyed out.

The next step is to right click on the image and select the 'save taget as' option to save the file to your computer. That's it!

I wish you much sucess!!!!

My First Sets Of Photos Of Windows & Doorways

These pictures were also taken on Salt Island. I was never really interested in taking photos of windows and doorways until one day I saw some pictures that a friend of mine took and they looked quite interesting.

So here is my first set of  photos with windows and doors. I think what make these pictures look unique is the fact that the building was old and broken down.  I love the last photo the most.  Photo taken with Nikon D60 DSLR Camera

Salt Island British Virgin Islands Part 1

My son borrowed his friend's boat and we took a trip to Salt Island, British Virgin Islands on Sunday 11th October 2009. I took an abundance of pictures and will be posting them in parts. Salt Island is where we have a natural resource of PURE salt.

In this picture, my son's girlfriend is having a taste of the pure salt. It tasted quite good actually. Its really amazing!

I took this picture myself but did not zoom in enough, this is a little stone with some pure salt on top of it. I will post other pictures later on where you can see the actual salt crystals.

The white 'ring' around the black stone is pure salt.
